Hosted by Nicolas Royer, 6th generation of the Louis Royer Cognac House.
Come experience a rare and relaxed cognac experience at the Le Mary Lili bar in La Rochelle. Nicolas Royer, the sixth generation of the eponymous house, takes you on a passionate journey through the world of cognac, through an interactive workshop dedicated to the fascinating world of this spirit.
There's no lecture here: discussion, curiosity, and pleasure guide the tasting. The workshop takes the form of an open conversation, punctuated by stories, anecdotes, questions, and sensory discoveries.
A sensory journey through the Cognac appellation
For more than 1h30, explore the terroirs, ages and styles of this exceptional eau-de-vie through four cognacs selected from across the AOC: from the freshness of a young Borderies to the depth of an old Grande Champagne , via the suppleness of Fins Bois or the elegance of a Petite Champagne .
Each tasting becomes the starting point for a discussion:
- How does cognac age?
- What does an XO mean?
- Why do aromas change over time?
- How does terroir influence taste?
- and many more...
What if you went behind the bar?
Because you are in a real cocktail bar , the experience can go even further by combining cognac and mixology by learning to make 2 classic cocktails based on this unique spirit. A fun and modern way to rediscover cognac from a different angle, between heritage and creativity (+30€ per person).
A lively, interactive workshop, accessible to all
Whether you are a curious amateur or an experienced connoisseur, this workshop will allow you to:
- to simply understand the main stages of cognac production (distillation, aging, blending);
- to sharpen your senses through the recognition of aromas and textures;
- and above all, to ask all your questions in a relaxed, friendly and authentic atmosphere
